Tekni-Films, a Tekni-Plex Company, now offers the TEKNIFLEX® Modified Atmosphere Blister (MAB), the first transparent thermoformed PCTFE blister that takes the proven barrier properties of 2 and 3 layer PCTFE laminates beyond those of cold formed foil. The new TEKNIFLEX® MAB incorporates one or more CSP Technologies’ Activ-Strips® polyethylene dessicant strip into the rib design of the blister card, linking every cavity with the dessicant.
The patented technology makes it possible to significantly reduce headspace moisture content to extend the shelf life of products. The Activ-Strip® does not come in contact with the product, it is dust free, and complies with all relevant EU and US pharma and food regulations. Performance can be tailored by using different sheet thicknesses, sheet sizes (surface area), and dessicants (molecular sieve or silica gel).
When tested with TEKNIFLEX® VA7200, one CSP Activ-Strip® maintains the headspace dry for approximately 2 months at IHC accelerated stability conditions (40º C/75% RH). At 3 months, the same blister card with two CSP Activ-Strips® maintains the headspace below 10% RH. Three CSP Activ-Strips® can guarantee a dry headspace for 2 years at ICH long-term storage conditions (25º C/65%RH).
